Copper and Alloys

Metals and their alloys are among the prime industrial raw materials of our age. They have been used for many thousands of years.

Together with copper itself, the following metals are required as alloy elements for the production of copper cast alloys; they give the alloys differing properties (in alphabetical order):   aluminium (Al), chromium (Cr), cobalt (Co), iron (Fe), lead (Pb), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), phosphorous (P), silicon (Si), tin (Sn) and zinc (Zn).

Prime Copper Cast Alloys

The prime copper cast alloys are:
brass (copper and zinc)
bronze (copper and tin)
gunmetal (copper, tin, zinc and lead)
master alloys / special alloys (copper, aluminium, nickel, iron, manganese)

The links will guide you to Kupferband e.V. presenting details about the most important alloys and the basis.
